Best School Logos Of 2019

Our expertise lies in school branding and we know how to create imaginative logos that are bespoke to each client, all portraying the school’s character and ethos with clarity and impact, exceeding all expectations. The time, care and talent that we invest into each project is demonstrated through the finished product and we want to share with you some of our favourite school logo projects we undertook in 2019.

The Westwood Academy

Best School Logos Of 2019 - The Westwood Academy School logo

The Westwood Academy is part of the Kenilworth Academy Trust which is formed of two schools. They describe themselves as a small school with a big vision, which is reflected in their students with their aspirations and readiness to learn. Cleverbox has worked with The Westwood Academy for many other projects including their website, prospectus and school photography, therefore it was vital to get their branding spot on at the start of our journey together, to create a strong and effective theme across all aspects of the school.

Sheena Hodgson is the Strategic Director at The Westwood Academy, she has shared her thoughts about our time together in creating a new brand for the school.

We were looking to update our existing school logo to better reflect our vibrant school. We researched the marketplace at length but ultimately settled on Cleverbox as their design product, professionalism and approach to our request for a new school logo, school prospectus, school website and school photography was exemplary from the outset.

We began with the design of the new logo as this then allowed us to progress to prospectus and school website. Cleverbox worked with us and turned our simple ideas into at least six potential design options, all of which fitted our initial brief. The design process was fully supported by Cleverbox throughout, with their guidance we were able to see our ideas, and thoughts come to life.

One of our key elements that we are particularly proud of here at Cleverbox, is our continued support and dedication to each of our clients. We try our best to ensure that schools are completely satisfied at every stage in the project, from the initial design period where ideas and creativity is flowing, all the way through to the sign off and delivering of the finished product. It is so important to keep that lasting relationship with our clients, that both of us will cherish now and in the future.

The design of the new logo was key for us and so important that it truly represents who we are as a school community. The new logo looks simply wonderful on our new stationary, prospectus and website and we are so pleased with it. We have received many positive comments from parents, pupils, staff and school visitors.

The illustrative and contemporary design, which resembles growth and achievement by the use of the tree, is a great inspiration to the students of the school. And the typography ‘Quality, Ambition and Independence sums up this school perfectly. Just like any other brand, it is important to make a memorable and lasting impact so that your school logo can act as a marketing tool. It gives the opportunity to showcase yourselves to potential staff members, as well as future students and creates a strong first impression of the school and its identity. There are over 30,000 schools in the UK meaning constant competition, so it is important to stand out from others.

Richard Whittington Primary School

Best School Logos Of 2019 - Richard Whittington Primary School logo

Richard Whittington Primary School is located in Hertfordshire, with a goal to make a difference as resilient, respectful citizens of the world. The school contacted Cleverbox as they were starting a re-branding journey, and wanted to reflect their established values and visions in their new logo.

The school had been in contacted with other providers previously, but after failing to meet their brief to NOT feature the famous pantomime character, Cleverbox stepped in and knew exactly what the client wanted to achieve.

Richard Whittington Primary School Logo Before and After

As the initial idea was to focus on the real Richard Whittington, our studio did a lot of research on the history the famous Lord Mayor (and not the pantomime!), his journey which took courage, resilience, skill and perseverance is greatly reflected in the school’s ethos, therefore we presented 4 logos based on his achievements, similar to those of the school.

We would also like it to reflect that we are a strong community school with a positive ethos heading in a new forward-thinking direction

Craig Wood, Richard Whittington Primary School

Their strong community, new direction and desire to improve is what sets this school apart so it was important to portray this in the best possible way through their logo.

The bright colours make the logo visually striking, as well as incorporating an abstract yet friendly approach to the sense of community as demonstrated through the quatrefoil, linking everything together seamlessly in the same way their school community does. The overall message in the logo is clearly displayed, and we think it will make a great impact to the current and prospective students, parents and staff of the school.

Compass Learning Partnership

Compass Learning Partnership Logo

Compass Learning Partnership was founded in 2014, and is a partnership of two special schools in London.

The main focus for their new logo, as well as being open minded, was to ensure that a compass was featured in some way, to portray a sense of direction to success and achievement. After going through many different designs, all incorporating a compass in one way or another, the client narrowed it down to the final design. Not only does the logo incorporate a sense of direction leading to a final destination, but also clearly differentiates and sets itself apart to other trusts.

One of the reasons as to why we enjoyed working on this project, is due to the simplicity yet overall effectiveness of the logo. With the complementary navy, and sky-blue colour scheme, it is an easily recognisable brand logo, and with the pointer also taking the form of the letter C – it has captured the client’s needs of wanting a contemporary but friendly logo to inhabit their trust brand.

Compass Learning Partnership Mobile Web Page

Cleverbox has also recently designed and launched the Compass Learning Partnership’s new website, which is a lovely addition to the trusts branding too. With the logo placed sophisticatedly on the homepage, and the colour scheme cleverly linked throughout the website, working with Cleverbox for all their marketing tools has contributed to the growth of this strong trust brand and their marketing.

Hatchside

Hatchside School logo

Hatchside School is a special school for 64 pupils aged 2-7, the school is currently in its pre-opening phases, therefore it was really important to create a new school logo that makes an amazing first impression.

All of the pupils at the school will learn through a specialised and individualised curriculum in classrooms that are tailored to specific learning styles. Their vision is to be a secure, stimulating and happy school where pupils and staff can learn together, so we wanted to ensure that their logo reflected this inspiring and positive ethos.

As a brand-new school, it gave our design studio an amazing opportunity to create something that is totally different. The school wanted something bright and colourful, as well as forward thinking and professional. It was also important to complement the Astrum logo, the Multi Academy Trust that the school is a part of. Astrum MAT and Newbridge School, both incorporate a star into their logos in different ways so it was really essential to reflect this in Hatchside’s logo to create consistency in the Astrum MAT branding, while keeping a unique and original design for the new school.

Many design concepts were thrown into the works, including kites, flowers, and shooting stars until a decision was made on the final design.

This bold and energetic logo shows an abstraction of students, with arms outstretched, joyfully coming together to form a star. This logo underlines the importance of each individual student, as one emerges from the collective star, moving upwards and outwards to reach their own individual potential and succeed.

Cleverbox

We really love this logo, and can’t wait for the opening of Hatchside School, later on in the year.

Orchard Mead

Orchard Mead Academy logo

Orchard Mead Academy is part of The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) located in the North Eastern outskirts of the City of Leicester. The Academy shares ethos, vision and values of TMET which is for each and every member of the school community to make a positive difference.

The school wanted to incorporate nature into the new logo, so different shades of greens and oranges were used for the initial design concepts, as well as butterflies, birds and leaves all of which can be found in an orchard.

An abstract approach also started off the project, with suggestions of using basic shapes overlapping one another so that these could easily translate into other marketing areas.

After reviewing all of the design concepts, Orchard Mead and Cleverbox concluded that what would best reflect the school was to include a humming bird in the logo, with brightly coloured leaves surrounding it.

The thinking behind this logo is that the different colours or leaves are representative of the variety of things on offer at the academy, from subjects and beyond. The bird is then represented as a student, and is able to travel upwards using this as a launchpad.

The natural world is represented here by a bird, facing inwards in the logo typography. In this instance, the bird is using a collection of leaves as a springboard or starting point for its flight.

Cleverbox

The school were really pleased with the final outcome of the logo, and how it has some traits similar to those of other logos in the trust, but has still kept its own identity and uniqueness.

We hope you have enjoyed taking a look through our school logo projects of 2019, and that you may think of us when re-branding your school in the future.
