Our recent collaboration with the British International School of Jeddah (BISJ, a community co-educational school in Saudi Arabia, was no exception. Tasked with redesigning their online presence, we delivered a bespoke school website design that reflects the school’s global outlook, academic excellence, and vibrant community spirit.
A Fresh Digital Identity
From the outset, our mission was clear: to create a dynamic, intuitive and visually engaging website that captures the essence of BISJ. Founded in 1977, BISJ operate on a purpose-built site, with over 1,300 students from over 60 countries! With its diverse student body and internationally-minded ethos, the school needed a platform that would not only inform, but inspire. We designed a bold, modern homepage that immediately sets the tone. The impactful colours and student imagery showcases life at BISJ; with diverse learners in action and is complemented by clean, contemporary typography and a rich palette of Red, Purple and Blue. These colours are drawn directly from the school’s brand, and lend a sense warmth throughout the site.
Crafting Compelling Content
A great website needs more than just beautiful visuals, it needs words that resonate. To support the BISJ team in articulating their story, we brought in our expert education copywriter to develop clear, engaging and values-led content. Working closely with key stakeholders at the school, our writer helped distil the school’s vision and ethos into copy that speaks directly to their audience.
Beautiful design captures attention, but it’s the right words that build connection, trust, and lasting impact.
A Journey Through the School
The homepage features a prominent panel showing all the different age ranges of this all through school, from Early years, through to Sixth Form, showcasing the journey students take through the whole school. This vibrant panel sits on the front page amongst graphic quick links to popular pages, clear calls to action, and flexible panels for news, announcements and calendar highlights.
Bringing the School to Life
With prospective families often forming first impressions online, it was important that the site felt alive with the BISJ story. The different sections throughout the site were crafted as a highlight reel of the school’s strengths, from world-class facilities and IB programmes to its caring community ethos. The Subjects library compiles all the key curriculum information into one easy to navigate dashboard, allowing parents to easily read about the core subjects at the school, the facilities and the structure of the lessons. The site was built mobile-first, ensuring a seamless experience across all devices. Performance, accessibility and future scalability were also at the heart of our development approach.
Working with BISJ was a great experience. We got to learn a lot about the school and the wider education scene in Saudi Arabia. It was also a chance for Cleverbox to grow its international portfolio further. I think the finished website looks fantastic.
